Luci in the Spotlight!
The much loved Luci started at MC Equestrian in 2021. She has had a passion for horses since she was a little girl. Both her daughters also rode and competed for about 10 years and her son George, even had a stint working at the MC stables as well. Luci is pictured here with her granddaughter Florence - who is too young for riding lessons just yet, but Luci is giving her a taste of what’s around the corner! Horse love is definitely in the Crawley genes!
What led you to start your job at MC Equestrian?
I previously worked for a Grand Prix dressage rider near Windsor where I lived, I agisted, rode and taught on my property as well. I wanted to move back to Northern Beaches where I grew up and stay in the industry. I knew MC Equestrian was the biggest, and most professional riding school in the area, so I applied for a job - and here I am today! I really enjoy coaching as I love watching the riders develop, it is a challenging job but very rewarding.
What does a typical day involve for you?
I coach riders of all levels at MC Equestrian from children to adults. I love seeing the progression of the horse and rider. I also ride the school horses and some of our clients’ horses that need schooling. It’s really the perfect day!
What do you like best about working for MC Equestrian?
I find that MCEQ is very professional and the quality and care of their horses is 5-star. It’s a very friendly environment and I have met some great people since starting.
Tell us about your favourite horse adventure?
As a teenager I grew up at Avalon where I kept my horse. I would ride with my friends to the beach bareback and have races up and down the sand and then take them swimming in the surf. They were days I will never forget.
Do you have a favourite horse at work?
I have so many favourites, honestly they are all great horses. If I had to choose, I’d say I have a soft spot for River. He is so cheeky and just adorable! I am hoping my granddaughter will ride him when she is old enough.
What is your favourite discipline?
My favourite discipline is dressage but I also love going to our friends property in Gloucester and mustering cattle!
What is your favourite horse quote?
“Always be firm but fair!”
