Horse Riding for Families
At MC Equestrian we have quite a few families where multiple members of the same family all share a passion for riding. This week we introduce you to Luiza and Lucca, siblings who both enjoy riding.
Due to our size, MC Equestrian have the flexibility to be able to cater for all ages and rider abilities, with horses to match any discipline and the option to have weekly lessons, lease a horse, ageist your own horse or simply just attend school holiday camps. Not to forget our multiple arenas both indoor and out, making us the perfect fit for Luiza and Lucca.
The Marucio family’s journey
Originally from Brazil, Isabella and Roger moved to Australia in 2008. Not long after, Luiza was born then Lucca. From a very young age Luiza had an affinity with horses. Her passion increased after an extended holiday in Brazil where she rode a rather large horse for a little girl and then she was hooked!
The family joined MC Equestrian in 2019 deciding to take Luiza’s wishes for riding lessons seriously. Luiza rode Katelle and Lucca rode Cody for a few months.
Not long after Covid hit and they started leasing both horses.
Prior to Covid, MC Equestrian started taking Luiza out to local competitions at Northside and she was really growing as a young rider and really wanted to have her own horse. They had both improved their riding skills dramatically though their lessons.
Tell us about the process of purchasing your first horse Tiny and more recently Truffles?
“Luiza was becoming serious about riding and both kids aspired to become professional riders and one day compete in the Olympics. I have always encouraged them to dream high and believe in themselves and who knows what the future will bring. Roger and I felt it was time to look for our first horse. We let Dee know and she put word out to her connections for a well-schooled pony for Luiza.
The search took almost a year. I still recall the day Dee called with the news that she may have found the prefect pony for us. We were all very excited. Dee took us to the Central Coast and Luiza had a ride and fell in love with Tiny, the 13.3h Australian Riding pony. He arrived in March 2021.” Isabella recalls.
Since then, Luiza has become more experienced and ready to step up a level in competitions so we were on the hunt for a second, more advanced and experienced horse for her to ride. Dee again helped us find Truffles only a few weeks ago. She is a Morgan x Arab 14.3h Bay and perfect for Luiza. Now both kids have their own horses and we look forward to them following their dreams.”
What do you and the family like most about MC Equestrian Riding School?
“We originally started at MCEQ more of a hobby and to have fun, but then the kids became more serious and learnt a lot about horsemanship and how to care for horses. We love that the riding school offers the option to go further in the sport with dedicated, knowledgeable coaches specialising in different disciplines to guide you on the best path. Everyone who works there is well-trained, from the stable staff to the coaches and even the horses too - they are very well schooled.
The facilities are incredible and the kids can even ride when it’s raining with the large undercover arena. The school is safety conscious and really know how to look after their riders and the coaches know how to keep the kids motivated so they increase their skill level every lesson.
The kids have also met lots of great friends at MCEQ and we all really enjoy being part of the community.”
